The therapist is involved both before and after treatment, but more care is usually needed after treatment. During the first week after the laser treatment, the therapist often guides the aftercare by recommending the appropriate cleanser. Care must be taken with clients who have oily or acne prone skin to avoid irritation and future breakouts. Counselling after treatment is essential, especially regarding the importance of wearing sunscreen.
Contradictions
Laser Hair Removal treatment is contraindicated in pregnancy (as are all laser and light treatments), in clients with an active herpetic breakouts, in clients with a history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation and with clients who have taken isotretinoin within the last year. Non-smokers will achieve better results than smokers will.
